Buffalo's Grant is Bronko Nagurski Trophy National Defensive Player of the Week

Safety Devin Grant set the tone for Buffalo’s stalwart defensive effort Saturday, tipping a pass to himself and returning it 29 yards for a touchdown in the Bulls’ 37-13 home win over Central Michigan. For his three interceptions that included another pick-six later in the game, Grant has earned the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week honor for games during the weekend of Oct. 7, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.

FWAA unveils 2022 Freshman All-America Team

DALLAS (FWAA) – North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye was the toast of Atlantic Coast Conference quarterbacks this season, throwing for 38 touchdowns and leading the league in passing yards (4,321) and total touchdowns (45). For his dynamic efforts that led the Tar Heels (9-5) to the ACC’s Coastal Division title, the Football Writers Association of America awarded him as its Freshman Player of the Year presented by Chris Doering Mortgage.

Buffalo's Fuqua is Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week

Buffalo safety Marcus Fuqua tied an FBS-era program record with three interceptions against Toledo on Saturday, leading a rally from a 17-point fourth quarter deficit from the defensive side in the Bulls’ 34-27 win between the Mid-American Conference division leaders. For the key interceptions that helped extend Buffalo’s win streak to five games, Fuqua earned the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week honor for games during the weekend of Oct. 22, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
