Texas (8-0) tops NCBWA Division I Poll

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 25th year with its 2022 weekly surveys.

Preseason No. 1 Texas swept Alabama 3-0 in games to advance to 8-0 and remain No. 1 poll for the third consecutive week.

The Atlantic Coast Conference also has been flexing its baseball muscles to gain eight berths in the survey to tie the Southeastern Conference for most schools from one conference.

Some of the big movers from Weeks Two to Three have been NC State from No. 7 to 4, Oregon State from No. 12 to 9, Georgia from No. 16 to 10, Miami (Fla.) from 22 to 18, and Maryland from No. 25 to 20. Sacramento State, North Carolina and Clemson made their first NCBWA Top 30 appearances this week.

There have been 14 conferences (with 10 this week) represented in the first three standings of 2022, and there also were 14 different conferences in all the 2021 NCBWA polls.

The 2022 poll voters come from among 33 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. The ’22 season features 301 NCAA Division I baseball-playing schools, and for more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
