DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 25th year with its 2022 weekly surveys.
Tennessee (31-1) is No. 1 for the third week in a row after running its winning streak to 23 games – second in Southeastern Conference history behind Texas A&M in 2015 with 24 consecutive victories. Texas, Vanderbilt and the Vols have held down the No. 1 position in eight NCBWA surveys to date.
Some of the big movers from Weeks Eight to Nine have been Oregon State from No. 5 to 2, Miami (Fla.) from No. 12 to 3, Texas from No. 9 to 6, Notre Dame from No. 13 to 9, LSU from No. 16 to 12, Southern Miss from No. 26 to 15, Dallas Baptist from No. 27 to 19 and Auburn from receiving votes to No. 23, among others.
There have been 17 conferences (with 10 this week) represented in the first eight standings of 2022, and there also were 14 different conferences in all the 2021 NCBWA polls.
The 2022 poll voters come from among 33 college baseball writers and related media members from throughout the nation. The ’22 season features 301 NCAA Division I baseball-playing schools, and for more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to ncbwa.com.
