WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – For the first time since the 2024 preseason national poll, there is a new number one in this week’s top 25 poll, with 2022 national champion North Greenville taking the top spot. Tampa had been the top-ranked team in every poll since week one of 2024 after ranking second in the preseason poll in 2024. The Spartans were on the top in each of the last 17 polls until this week. 2023 national champion Angelo State is number two. North Greenville and Angelo State each collected 10 first-place votes.
Central Missouri moves up one spot to number three, while Florida Southern jumps from #12 to fourth, taking over the top spot in the South Region from Tampa. Indianapolis rounds out the top five, followed by Tampa, Point Loma, IUP and Mount Olive, moving up two spots to crack the top 10 for the first time this year. Southern New Hampshire stays at #10.
UT Tyler jumps up five spots from #17 to #12, while Westmont climbs from #21 to #16. Lenoir-Rhyne jumped up seven spots, moving to #18 this week after entering the poll at #25 last week. Delta State is the only new member of the poll this week, checking in at #20 after not receiving any votes last week.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
