USC's Watkins headlines USBWA's women's weekly honors
For the period through Sunday, Dec. 22, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women’s honorees of the week are TCU guard Madison Conner; Colorado Guard Frida Formann; South Florida guard Sammie Puisis; USC guard JuJu Watkins; and Saint Joseph’s forward Laura Ziegler. The Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week is North Carolina guard Lanie Grant and the National Team of the Week is Alabama.
USBWA unveils 2023-24 Men's All-America Team
Last season’s Oscar Robertson Trophy winner and the nation's leading scorer, three repeat selections, a pair of North Carolina teammates and four SEC stars headline the 2023-24 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's Men's All-America Team. The 15-man team includes a player from each of the NCAA Tournament’s four No. 1 seeds and six players who were their conference players of the year.
Alabama's Miller wins 2022-23 Wayman Tisdale Award
INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – Alabama forward Brandon Miller, the SEC Player and Freshman of the Year whose three-point shooting and rebounding helped lead Alabama to a conference title and the NCAA Tournament's top seed, has won the 2022-23 Wayman Tisdale Award as the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's National Freshman Player of the Year.

INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA) – A three-time All-American, three repeat members, last year’s Oscar Robertson Trophy winner and four players from the Big Ten are all members of the 2022-23 U.S. Basketball Writers Association's All-America Team. The 15-man team includes a member from each of the NCAA Tournament’s No. 1 seeds, seven players who were their conference players of the year, four players who were USBWA district players of the year, two of the country's top eight scorers and four of the top seven rebounders.
Alabama's Miller is USBWA National Freshman of the Week
There were 13 players in the 2022 class ranked ahead of five-star prospect and Alabama freshman Brandon Miller. None, though, have been nearly as impactful and productive as has Miller for the Crimson Tide this season. Six weeks into the season, Miller has been a mainstay at the top of our rankings of college basketball's best newbies and that continues this week after putting up 24 and 36 points in two outings this last week against Memphis and Gonzaga, respectively.
