DALLAS (NCBWA) – Thirty-four standout freshmen from every part of the country are featured on the 2023 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced today.
The 2023 NCBWA Freshman All-America Team features players from 29 schools and 13 conferences.
The two All-America teams are also made up of nine conference “Rookie of the Year” winners. In addition, 24 all-conference honorees appear on the team. The squads also include two conference “Freshman Pitchers of the Year” and one conference “Freshman Field Player of the Year.”
Duke (two 1st team), NC State (one 1st team, one 2nd team), Alabama (two 2nd team), Oklahoma State (two 2nd team) and TCU (two 2nd team) were tied for the lead with two Freshman All-America honorees each. The SEC led all conferences with nine players selected to the two teams combined, placing three players on the first team and six on the second team. The ACC and Big 12 were next with six honorees each, with the ACC leading all conferences with four first team selections.
The Freshman All-America team is voted upon by the membership of the NCBWA. The 2023 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, June 13.
