Defending national champion Angelo State is the unanimous number one team in the preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 Poll, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. The Rams went 56-9 overall in 2023, going undefeated in Cary, N.C. to claim the national title. Angelo State was making its third consecutive appearance at the Division II National Championships last year.

A perfect run through the NCAA Division II National Championships cemented a No. 1 finish in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 as the Angelo State Rams raked in all 20 first-place votes to reign supreme in the final edition of the national ranking on Thursday.

The NCBWA has announced its 2023 Division II All-America Team and indivdual honors.

Defending national champion North Greenville’s quick exit from the Conference Carolinas Tournament helped red hot Angelo State chip away at the foundation, but it was not enough to oust the Crusaders from the No. 1 spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Top 25 on Wednesday.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on February 12. UNC Pembroke senior infielder Christian Jayne is the National Hitter of the Week and Angelo State righty Braxton Pearson is the National Pitcher of the Week.
