Texas A&M's Aschenbeck wins 2024 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award
Texas A&M reliever Evan Aschenbeck has been announced as the 2024 Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday. Aschenbeck is the fourth player from the Southeastern Conference to earn this prestigious honor, joining Georgia’s Joshua Fields (2008), Florida’s Michael Byrne (2018) and Arkansas’ Kevin Kopps (2021).

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week awards presented by The Game Headwear for the period ending April 14. Georgia redshirt sophomore third baseman Charlie Condon was named National Hitter of the Week, while Texas A&M junior right-handed pitcher Chris Cortez was named National Pitcher of the Week.

Texas A&M has achieved its first No. 1 ranking this spring while Arkansas, the leader from March 18-April 8, dropped to No. 3 behind No. 2 Tennessee. The Aggies are the fourth team to achieve No. 1 this year, joining Wake Forest, Oregon State and the Razorbacks.
